Wine Wednesday - Nautilus Sauvignon Blanc

One of our favorite places to visit is Half Moon Bay, a coastal seaside town on Highway 1, just 30 minutes from San Francisco and Silicon Valley. We have been coming here for over 15 years and while there’s always something new to do, the one place we always visit is The Ritz-Carlton.

A luxury resort set on the bluff of the Pacific ocean, it offers two championship golf courses, a spa and exceptional dining. Our favorite spot to have a sipper, is in The Conservatory. With it’s huge windows overlooking the outdoor terrace, 18th hole and Pacific ocean, it’s the perfect place to relax, enjoy some local California cuisine and have a cocktail or sip a glass of wine. We ordered the California cheese board featuring Point Reyes Bay Blue & Laura Chenel’s Goat Brie served with walnut bread and marmalade and a classic Caesar salad. The waiter suggested pairing it with a bottle of Nautilus Sauvignon Blanc. It was perfect.

The citrus aroma grabs you as you take your first sip. It’s light, crisp and slightly acidic with hints of grapefruit and fresh herbs. It would pair nicely with seafood, chicken or something slightly spicy.

Once we returned home, we began our search for this wine. We found it on wine.com and totalwine.com for a very good price, as low as $13, even lower if you buy six or more. To our delight, we also found it at our local Costco.

Give it a try and let us know what you think.

Cheers!
