Wine Wednesday - Shadowbrook Winery

“Close to Home, Far From Ordinary”

Fall in California is a lovely time of year and there is no better place to soak it in, than at a winery. The changing colors of the leaves, the harvesting of the grapes and the cooler temperatures invite you to slow down, pour a glass of wine and sit in awe of beautiful vineyard views.

Friends of ours introduced us to this hidden gem of a winery located in the East Bay. It has all the aesthetics of Napa and Sonoma wine country tucked away in Walnut Creek, CA. We have been to Shadowbrook several times, it’s a beautiful place to take friends and family when they come to visit.

Proprietor and winemaker, Tim Jochner, has produced many award winning wines and has always greeted us with a friendly smile and a generous pour. We had the opportunity to watch him in action through the glass wall from the tasting room on our most recent visit as he emptied the fermenting tanks.

Shadowbrook winery grows several varietals on their property in the foothills of Mt. Diablo; Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Syrah, Zinfandel and Chardonnay. You can sample many of them at the walk up Tasting Bar.

They offer several wine tasting options:

  • The Triple Play at the Tasting Bar, highlighting current release wines

  • The Meridian Tasting, a private experience of limited production wines

  • The Summit Tasting, a private experience of small production Estate wines from their portfolio

  • The Luxury Mercedes experience, a chauffeured door-to-door ride with a complimentary glass of wine.

Hello! We’re here! We’ve come for the wine!

Shadowbrook Wines

As you can see, we liked a lot of the wines we tasted. We brought several bottles home to serve for Thanksgiving. We also picked up a bottle of their gourmet balsamic vinegar, which was delicious.

Because we liked their wines so much, we joined their wine club. The benefits include a discount on wines, tastings and merchandise, special pricing on experiences and 3 shipments annually.
